Position:- Lead Technologist, Energy Generation and Supply

 

Derek has over 25 years industrial experience in the Power Generation and Energy sector working with Companies including General Electric, ABB and Alstom Power. He qualified with a BSc and PhD in Metallurgy and his positions in industry have included management of materials departments, large scale engine test facilities, instrumentation and control departments and most recently technology strategy management with Alstom Power. He joined the Technology Strategy Board in July 2007 on secondment from Alstom to lead the Energy Generation & Supply application area, focussing on developing and delivering a strategy for UK innovation in this area.

 

He is actively engaged in of a number of UK and European Energy Committees, including the UK Marine Action Plan Committee, the Renewables Advisory Board, Advanced Power Generation Technology Forum and the European Technology Platforms in Zero Emissions and Advanced Engineering Materials
